They vowed these things to each other with our motto, Faithful Until Death. Our eight founders, Margaret Lee Batten, Louise Marie Davis, Martha Trent Featherston, Isabella Merrick, Sallie Jackson Michie, Lelia Scott, Elizabeth Watkins and Lucy Wright envisioned a sisterhood of high conduct, strong character, and above all, friendship to last a lifetime. These women were to be the founders of our sisterhood, Sigma Sigma Sigma, and founded something greater then they could have imagined from the start. These women shared a special bond of sisterhood from the earliest days, and hoped to pass this on to woman in the future. In 1898, eight strong, independent, and courageous women looked at their lives, college experience, and hopes for the future and sought to make more of themselves. The book “Where the Heart Is” was written by a Sigma – Billie Letts.
